Founder & Artistic Director
A painter, designer, dancer, teacher, choreographer and producer, Dina wears many hats at Energia. A fine artist by education she integrates Live Art into Energia’s shows, demonstrating her ambidextrous painting technique (AmbiArt), on beautiful human bodies.
In recent years she followed her love for Brazilian music and culture, and trained rigorously to become a samba dancer. Joining forces with other professional dancers and musicians, she started to choreograph live Brazilian shows.
She is currently reinventing burlesque, and loves the impact that her sophisticated All Male revues make on female audiences! All of Dina’s creative pursuits and her passion for painting, photography, design, dance, music, fashion and film are tastefully merged to make Energia Entertainment a unique multimedia experience for all.
Trained in Contemporary and World Dance at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Humboldt State University, Athena is now a dedicated teacher, dancer, choreographer, and artistic co-director of Energia.
When she saw her first samba parade she was instantly drawn to the dancers of all ages and body types, and the contagious rhythms of the drums. Athena is passionate about samba because it has helped to transform her from a young woman fearful about her power into a woman of courage, embodying her full potential and celebrating life. Through samba she has found her life purpose of helping other women discover the same awakening.
Athena is an active collaborator within San Diego samba community, sharing her expertise and inspiring her students and audiences.
